BioSyncbeta: A Structural Biologist's Guide to High Energy Data Collection Facilities

Welcome to the Beta-test BioSync website. BioSync is a web resource providing up-to-date information about world-wide synchrotron radiation facilities. This beta site includes information that is not available on the current production site such as which sites offer remote data collection, mail-in, crystallization and structure solution services, robotics handling for crystal screening and mounting, microfocus beams and facilities for collecting data under extreme conditions.

Current Synchrotron Information: This site contains information on more than 130 beamlines all over the world that are used to collect experimental data on biological macromolecules.

Beamline Descriptions: Each beamline has its own page describing the conditions available for data collection such as supported experimental methods, wavelength, flux and optical configurations, detectors, robotics, data collection hardware and software, services such as rapid access and remote data collection and other special features. The data for each beamline is updated regularly as changes occur at the synchrotron sites.

Beamline Deposition Statistics: Statistics are available for structures that have been deposited to the Protein Data Bank (PDB) for which data has been collected at a synchrotron site. Tables of depositions, by year, are available for each site and beamline tracked by the PDB. Image galleries, with links back to the PDB, are also presented and users may generate tables of citations for the structures deposited to each beamline. For structures generated through the NIH Structural Genomics efforts, tables are presented that show numbers of PDB depositions broken down by site and geographical region.
